EPISODE NOTES

1SGT Jonathan Hill spent 21 years in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout, serving multiple deployments between 1992 and the end of his career. In 2009, he found himself in the Afghanistan mountains on COP Keating with 52 fellow soldiers. On October 3, 2009 they were surrounded by over 300 Taliban fighters, and fought for 12 hours. When it was over, 8 Americans were lost, 150 Taliban were killed, and these brave men became the most highly decorated unit of the Afghan War. 1SGT Hill, who received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his actions at COP Keating, talks to Mistress Carrie about his time in the Army, how he found himself on COP Keating, and what life has been like since the epic battle. His story is one of hope, and overcoming the odds. You will be inspired, and this interview will shed a more personal light on the movie and the book it is based on.
