I got a message from the Fitchburg Police Department about K-9 Frankie, and the effort to erect a monument in his honor, after he was killed in the line of duty.
The story is amazing, and I’ve posted it below, along with the like to the fundraiser website.
These K-9’s do amazing work, and are so well trained. I spent a day with them years back while they trained… lets just say they got the best of me, and there’s video to prove it!
Here is the info on Frankie!
“Community members, family, and friends,
We are asking for your help to honor the sacrifice of MA State Police K9 “Frankie. On July 26, 2022, Frankie was shot during an attempt to apprehend an armed suspect who had barricaded himself inside a residence in the City of Fitchburg.
Nero’s Law, signed by Governor Baker earlier this year, made it possible for Frankie to be transported by ambulance to nearby Wachusett Animal Hospital. Although life-saving measures were administered, Frankie, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries with his partner and best friend, Sgt. David Stucenski by his side.
Frankie was a highly decorated MA State Police 9-year veteran, amassing several awards for bravery and valor throughout his career. Responding to every call for duty with intelligence, immense courage, and a steadfast dedication to protecting the public.
Any surplus after the statue is funded and completed, will be donated to Mass Vest a dog, a nonprofit organization in K-9 Frankie’s name.
